The CIoD Nigeria’s Young Directors Forum (YDF) is a network of directors who are young and inexperienced on the board. This cuts across the SMEs, quoted companies, and unlisted private companies. The Forum captures directors that are young across companies in all sectors. Under YDF, young directors are assembled in a structured format for capacity development and mentorship, to give them the right tutelage to grow their leadership experience, exposure and corporate governance skills, culture, practices, as well as standards.
Members are keen knowledge seekers who take advantage of the access to free mentorship services provided by CIoD Nigeria to create strong peer networks that add value in the course of discharging their roles and responsibilities as directors. Ultimately, they are groomed to become CIoD Chartered Directors who give back to the society by mentoring others and supporting the growth of Nigeria’s economy.
The Forum organizes three major programmes, to provide the right platform for members’ capacity building and networking. The programmes are:
1. Networking & Knowledge Sharing Session (NKSS)
The Networking & Knowledge Sharing Session is a quarterly executive engagement platform that brings together young directors, experienced board practitioners, regulators, policymakers and industry experts to discuss contemporary governance, leadership and business issues.
Each session combines insightful presentations, fireside chats, panel discussions and interactive networking opportunities that encourage collaboration and peer learning.
2. Young Directors Governance Course (YDGC)
Overview
Young Directors Forum (YDF) of the Chartered Institute of Directors (CIoD) Nigeria is a network of young, talented and up-coming board leaders who serve as executive or non-executive directors in small and big firms across sectors of the Nigerian economy. These young directors are keen knowledge seekers who are interested in taking advantage of the CIoD Nigeria platform to build capacities in corporate governance skills, practices, as well as taking advantage of access to free mentorship services, while creating strong peer networks that add value in the course of discharging their roles and responsibilities as directors. Ultimately, they are groomed to become CIoD Chartered Directors who give back to the society by mentoring others and supporting the growth of CIoD Nigeria.
3. Young Directors Conference (YDC)
The Young Directors Conference is the Forum’s premier annual gathering and one of Nigeria’s leading conferences dedicated to emerging board leaders.
The conference convenes distinguished business executives, board chairs, policymakers, regulators, entrepreneurs, investors, governance professionals and international experts to deliberate on the future of corporate leadership.
The Young Directors Digest
The YDF Digest 2024 by the Young Directors Forum of the Chartered Institute of Directors Nigeria provides insights and guidance on leadership, corporate governance, and business growth for emerging directors and entrepreneurs.
